Will Tiger Woods find what he is looking for?

Here is what Tiger had to say about his split with Sean Foley.
Tiger Woods let's Sean Foley go as his swing coach
Tiger Woods let’s Sean Foley go as his swing coach
“I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him. With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.”
“My time spent with Tiger is one of the highlights of my career so far, and I am appreciative of the many experiences we shared together,” Foley said. “It was a lifelong ambition of mine to teach the best player of all time in our sport. I am both grateful for the things we had the opportunity to learn from one another, as well as the enduring friendship we have built. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.”
“Presently, I do not have a coach, and there is no timetable for hiring one,” added Woods.
Tiger is on the prowl again in hopes of finding his old swing. Or at least a swing that he can control and move into the spotlight in the Majors once again. In my option I think that Tiger will go it alone for a while. This will give him some time to clear his head get his body back into competitive shape and then in he is still in search he might look for another instructor to work with. Tiger has gone on alone before but without positive results. I think that even a high profile player such as Tiger needs another set of eyes that he trusts to get the most out of his swing. Two heads are better than one and as long as the swing his goes to does not cause any more body damage we will see him make a run before his PGA Tour career is over.

Process - Stay in the Moment

All great players get to where they are by staying in process. But what does that mean to the average weekend golfer? It means that you stick to the shot in front of you right at this moment. That sounds easy but it is not. So many players worry about what they will shoot and what the final result will be at the end of their round. If the make a bad shot they worry about how it will affect their score on that hole. Great players but the shot behind them. Good or bad they do not dwell on it because it is over. They cannot replay it so they accept it and move on. They clear their mind and not worry about what their next shot will be until it is in front of them. Then they access the shot and decide what is the best move to make next. Where will that move leave them to make the best score on that hole. Rory is one of the guys who gets it and of course sometimes if his swing is a little off he can lose his way. It's easy to stay in the moment when you are playing well. If you are not then it is much harder. The best thing to do is to play one shot at a time and treat it like it does not matter what the result will be. This will help us play free and enjoy the round. Think about the last round you played when everything was going right. I'm sure that you were not thinking of swing motions and mechanics. You were target focused and swinging free out to the target. Good shots or bad we need to except the results and go  get it and hit it again. At the end of the round add them all up and see how we did. The next time you play have a friend keep your score and you keep theirs. Don't look at your score until the end of the front nine. Do the same for the back and see how much better your overall score is. I'm sure you will be pleased because you are not getting ahead of yourself and staying in process.

Golf lesson How to find perfect your posture

How to find perfect your posture. Posture in golf dictates several things. One of the main things it affects is swing plane along with the bottom of the swing arc. Both of these are important for solid contact and compressing the ball at impact. Most amateur players use the wrong sequence when setting their posture. Without proper sequence it is difficult to be consistent. In the video below I demonstrate how you can use any club in your bag to help you set your posture correctly. When your posture is poor it is very difficult to stay in proper posture into and past impact until the club is released. The key is to always set your pelvic tilt first then bend your upper torso down to get to the ball. This will set your address position properly. Once you get the sequence correct then you begin to have better results and your ball striking will improve.

The Shocking Truth about Golf Tips

There are some many golfer's out there on the range and local courses who have a tips for you to get better. The main reason why we even bother to listen is because we so desperately want to improve our game. The biggest problem is that we can't be sure if the tip will be right for us. many time we try the tip and it ends up causing more harm than good. The truth is that many tips might help but most of the time they are not for us. The reason is we are all different and that means one swing does not fit all. There are so many different types of swings and tips how do we know which one is right for us? The truth is we don't know and the only way we can find out is to go to a good instructor and have them help us with our swing. Break it down and understand what we need to do to get on plane so to speak. The best way to find one is to keep an eye out for good players. When you go to the range and see a player who has a swing that looks solid ask them who they are working with. Also take a look at players on tour who have you same general build. Look at how they swing and try to imitate them. Hop on the web and do a search for instructors in your area and do some research on them. Stop by and see if you can watch them teach other students. Talk to them and see if you get along with them. It's important that they have solid values and a good working knowledge of different types of swings. If you think they are a good fit for you than set up a one hour lesson and give them a chance to look at your swing. If you get that warm and fuzzy feeling then they might be the right instructor for you. Ask questions and make sure you get logical answers that are easy to understand. After all you will be working with them for at a minimum four to six weeks before you start to see a solid improvement. If you see it sooner then you know you made the right choice. Remember a tip of fix is just that. It might work and it might not but either way it won't last. Solid instruction and fundamentals are what build a solid swing that will last a lifetime.

Round 2 at Pinehurst LPGA U.S.Open

Here we go for the second week at Pinehurst No.2. The Womens U. S. Open. The ladies get their turn at at track that just proved to be more than tough for the men last week. How will they fair and who will come out on top when it is all over. Martin Kaymer got out of the gate last week in the first two rounds with a pair of 65's. He then was on cruise control and cross the finish line in style to win his second major. It will be the same for the LPGA this week and who ever posts a solid opening round will have the best chance. The conditions are still great even after the men played through last week and the course will play just as tough if not harder than it was last week. As in all majors putting will play a huge part in who comes out on top. But short par fours like No.3 will give even the ladies that window to make birdies and gain momentum. Here are the players that look like they will be in the top ten after the weeks end and have the best chance at winning. Stacy Lewis who is No.1 in scoring.
Lexi Thompson who can crush the ball and will be at an advantage on the short par fours. Inbee Park who can putt lights out and at the moment leads the tour in putting stats. Suzann Pettersen who is No. 1 in greens in regulation and the top rookie  on the LPGA Tour Lydia Ko. All of these players are right now at the top of their field and have the best chance to close the deal. e also need to consider Michelle Wie who is playing some of the best golf of here career and is long over due in the majors for a win. All and all it will make for an exciting week and we should all be looking forward to watching what should prove to be a great Womens U.S.Open.

Rory Wins BMW PGA Championship 2014

Rory McIlroy wins his first event on the heels of his break up. The best way to get over love lost is to dive into your work. Rory did just that with a stinging -6 under par to win by one shot. One of the keys to Rory's winning swing is a flat left wrist at impact. This must happen for you to play at a high level and get the most you have to offer to your game. If your left wrist is flat like Rory's shown in the photo above you will have the best chance of getting the bottom of your swing arc to happen after impact. This is imperative to compress the ball and to create back spin. It has been proven that the lower the handicap of the player the more in front of the ball is the swing arc bottom. Tour pros bottom out four inches or more in front of the ball. Work on this by having a slight forward tilt to the shaft at address. Focus on the front of the ball and try to brush the turf in front of the ball after impact. And that begs the following question: Is your grip pressure helping you play your best golf or is it hurting your game?
If your grip pressure is too tight not only will it cost you distance but it will add tension to your swing, which also will make it more difficult to keep your shots online.
The next time you play or practice try this little exercise to help you get a better grip on your game.
Set up to the ball as you normally would and just before you start your backswing take a deep breath and then blow all the air in your body out of your mouth.
When you do this you will feel your muscles start to relax and the tension in your grip will go right out of your fingers.
Now go ahead and make your swing and see how much more free your motion feels. Doing this will help you gain speed and control without trying to steer your shots.
You will be tension free and in turn gain more control then ever.

Bubba Watson Wins Northern Trust Open 2014 (+playlist)

Do you want to swing like Bubba?

Bubba Watson is one of the longest Drivers on the PGA Tour.

If timing is off just a little he can find himself on trouble.

There are many advantages to swinging for the fences most of all distance and club head speed.

The longer your drives the shorter club you will have to hit into the green.

It may be out of trouble and if the pressure is on those odds rise.

Free Your Mind The Rest Will Follow

Swing thoughts work, but only if we use them at the correct time and don't overload our mind with to many. The golf swing is a motion and the body does not need conscious thought to move. It knows how to move and react through evolution. Swing thoughts are good when we are learning a motion and working on a drill to feel that motion. That is when we can soak up that feeling and then repeat it when we play a shot. So the next time we hit the course or practice on the range keep it simple and feel what you want to have happen. Then focus on trying to repeat the feel with the ball in the way. You swing will become more natural and you will have better results.

Pitch Perfect Shots

The key to accurate pitch shots is to take to power out and keep the precision in. The best way to do that is to look at two of the most accurate players around the green on the PGA Tour. Right now that is Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker. Both of these players take wrist cock out of the shot. I call this the dead hand pitch. That is when your hands just go along for the ride and your arms are placid. The rotation of the shoulders and torso are the driver and the only power source in this shot. The arms are carried by the big muscles and help square up the face at impact. Give this a try the next time you are close to the green. You will begin to see accurate shots the more you work on this style or pitching and chipping.

New Year Golf Resolution 2014 "Let's Play!"

Welcome to 2014. Many of us have resolutions for our golf game like practice more. Hit more fairways and get lower scores. I feel that the best resolution for all golfers this year 2014 is to try and introduce someone new into the game of golf. This is an easy one to keep and can let you enjoy helping someone learn to enjoy the game that you love so much. Let them know how the challenge of golf never ends and how even though the game is difficult it can be but brings joy and can act as a stress reliever. Life is stressful in the time we live in and any way to relieve stress can energize us and make our live more enriched. So talk to your friend and coworkers and family. Let them know how much fun golf can be and of course get out and play as much as you can this year. The more you play the more you will learn about the points in your own game that need improvement. let's get more players playing the game we love. That will be great for you and golf.
